Lip Blush Tattooing

Lip blush tattooing is a form of semi-permanent makeup that aims to enhance the colour and add definition to the lips.
It can provide more symmetry, cover uneven pigmentation or scars and give an illusion of fuller lips without the filler. It’s a convenient and long lasting solution for those looking to achieve beautifully enhanced lips with minimal daily makeup effort.

  • Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Most clients feel little to no pain during the treatment but a few factors that can affect sensitivity and comfortability are menstrual cycle, sleep, emotions and caffeine intake.

  • Everybody heals and retains pigment differently. You should only need 2 sessions. Your first session will be for creating the shape and implanting colour and a touch up session will need to be completed 6-10 weeks after to perfect the lip. This can be done by adding density, adjusting the colour by brightening, warming up or cooling down and adding definition to border.

  • Preparation is just as important as the aftercare!

    • Do not consume caffeine, alcohol, blood thinners (aspirin/ibuprofen) for 24 hours prior to your appointment as this will cause excess bleeding and effect your final result

    • Lip fillers must not be performed within 4 weeks of your treatment (before and after)

    • Retinols/Vitamin A must not be used for 1 month prior.

    • No facials to be completed within a month of your tattooing appointment (specifically peels and skin needling)

    • Skincare containing AHAs (Lactic, glycolic acids) or Salicylic acid must not be used in the lip area 2 weeks prior.

    • Blemishes within the lip area cannot be tattooed over due to infection.

    • Moisturise your lips thoroughly in the lead up to your appointment to ensure the best outcome for your tattoo.

  • You’re welcome to bring in your favourite lip stick!

Please keep in mind, it is not guaranteed that it will be a perfect match but we will try our best.

The choice of lip tattoo pigment will also depend on your natural lip colouring.

  • Yes! Due to the trauma of tattooing the lip it is highly likely you may experience a cold sore outbreak.

It is highly suggested that you undergo a course of antivirals to prevent the outbreak.

    • Refrain from eating spicy, acidic & salty foods for the first few days as this can sting your lips.

    • Food must be eaten with a fork and drinks must be drunk with a straw to prevent as much contact with your lips as possible.

    • If you are prone to get cold sores, you may be likely to get a break out on day 4. The best approach is to get a prescription from the doctor for an anti-viral medication to minimise the breakout.

    • Colour almost completely disappears on day six, but resurfaces over six weeks. That is why you must wait for six weeks for touchup.

    • Lipstick can be worn once skin has flaked off (usually day 6 to 7)

    • Lip balm will help keep the tattoo looking and feeling fresh

    • Avoid Pawpaw ointment for four weeks following treatment as pawpaw is an enzyme and can lighten pigment quicker

To ensure longevity of your lip tattoo, long term aftercare is important.

    • Apply SPF daily as over exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and colour change.

    • Avoid use of retinols/vitamin a, glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids in the immediate lip area. These active ingredients will lighten the colour.

  • DAY 1 - DAY OF TREATMENT

On the day of your appointment, your lips will look bright and may also be swollen and slightly tender, this is normal and will go down within 24 hours. It is recommended to blot with a damp cotton pad and apply thin layer of aftercare ointment as needed.

    DAYS 2-7
Lips must be kept clean & hydrated for next 7 days. Use a damp cotton pad to gently blot and apply aftercare ointment with a clean cotton tip. Colour will oxidise on day 2 and get darker. Day 3-7 is when your lips will be quite dry and start to peel. Refrain from picking skin or over stretching lips as that may further crack your lips.

    DAYS 7-28
Lips may still be dry once healed, continue to use aftercare ointment or a nourishing lip balm. Colour may also disappear during this time but will continue to reappear over the next 6 weeks.

It can take up to 4 weeks following your treatment for your colour to settle into the skin.
Mature clients can take slightly longer to heal due to the cell regeneration process slowing down as we age. This may mean we have to push your touch up out slightly.

  • Your lip blush tattoo can last between 2-5 years depending on the technique and will gradually lighten over time. Thats why yearly touch ups are recommended to boost the colour.
