Cosmetic tattooing is the process of implanting pigment into the skin using sterile, disposable needles to enhance natural features and give the appearance of subtle makeup.

Cosmetic tattooing can be used to fill in sparse or thinning eyebrows, reshape uneven brows or create a more defined arch. It also offers a convenient and long lasting solution for those looking to save time on their daily makeup routine or address specific aesthetic concerns.

Cosmetic Brow Tattooing

  • To be eligible for cosmetic tattooing you must not be:

    • undergoing chemotherapy

    • Under the age of 18

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding

    • Auto immune disorders or Lupus

    • Prone to Keloid scarring

    • Using acne medications (Accutane)

    • Skin disorders

    • Epilepsy

    • have taken antibiotics in the past 4 weeks

  • Cosmetic tattooing is ideal for someone that:

    • has uneven and/or sparse brows

    • lacks time to fill in brows daily

    • has sensitivities to conventional makeup

    • has little to no brow hair due to thinning or over plucking

    • has an active lifestyle that exercises or swims regularly and is concerned about smudging or sweating your makeup off

    • It can be used to recreate hair loss due to alopecia, chemotherapy or other medical conditions

  • There are 3 techniques i perform at Brittany H Aesthetics. Combination. Ombre and Featherstroke brows.

    • Combination - feathery, hair like strokes are implanted at the front of the brow using a microblade. A machine is then used to transition into a powdery brow through the arch and tail. Suited to most skin types wanting to achieve definition to the brow but still wanting the ‘natural’ effect of hair like strokes.

    • Ombre - involves using a machine to shade the entirety of the brow. The front of the brow is kept soft and the mids-ends of the brow gradually becomes more dense. It is a more defined method of brow tattooing. Suited for all skin types, especially oily skins.

    • Featherstroke - a manual blade is used to implant fine strokes through the whole brow to mimic the appearance of hair.
Suitable for normal/dry/younger skin types with great elasticity. Not for oiler skins (due to thickened, porous skin and strokes blurring sooner) or mature skins (due to thinning skin)
NOTE: This technique is a stepping stone to a Combination or Ombre brow as it can only be completed 1-3 times depending on skin type, colour, pigment retention and time between appointments.

  • If you have existing tattooing that has been performed elsewhere, you MUST contact with Brittany as they may need to be assessed in person before booking.

Unfortunately, not all tattoos can be corrected or covered, no matter how old they may be.

Depending on their colour, shape, skin integrity/scarring may require tattoo removal before future tattooing.

  • Brow Tattooing is at $649 for your initial session, your 6 week touch up is $100.

Annual touch ups cost will depend on how long it has been since your last touch up and which technique. Touch up costs are for previous clients of Brittanys only.

  • Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Most clients feel little to no pain during the treatment but a few factors that can affect sensitivity and comfortability are menstrual cycle, sleep, emotions and caffeine intake.

  • Everybody heals and retains pigment differently. You should only need 2 sessions. Your first session will be for creating the shape and implanting colour and a touch up session will need to be completed 6-10 weeks after to perfect the brow. This can be done by adding density and depth, adjusting the colour of pigment and correcting shape if need be.

  • Preparation is just as important as the aftercare!

    • Do not consume caffeine, alcohol, blood thinners (aspirin/ibuprofen) for 24 hours prior to your appointment as this will cause excess bleeding and effect your final result

    • Retinols/Vitamin A must not be used for 1 month prior.

    • No facials to be completed within a month of your tattooing appointment (specifically peels and skin needling)

    • Anti-wrinkle (botox) or fillers must not be performed within 2 weeks of your treatment (before and after)

    • Skincare containing AHAs (Lactic, glycolic acids) or Salicylic acid must not be used in the brow area 2 weeks prior.

    • Any brow hair removal (waxing, threading) and brow colouring (tint, henna, dye) must be done at least one week prior.

    • Blemishes within the brow area cannot be tattooed over due to infection.

    • Avoid any makeup and skincare products within and around the brow for 14 days following your treatment while brows are still flaky.

    • Avoid getting your brows wet when washing your face & hair in the shower.

    • Do not pick flakes of skin while they're healing.

    • No facial treatments or injectables for 2 weeks following your appointment.

    • Avoid exercise & gym environments for 4 days following your appointment as it will increase the risk of infection.

    • No swimming, saunas and spas while they're healing.

    • Avoid direct sun exposure as this can cause the tattoo to fade.

    • Avoid waxing, threading, tinting or any other brow service until completely healed.

    • Use a fresh pillowcase as they tend to harvest bacteria and dead skin.

    • It is best not to book tattooing appointments within 2 weeks of any events or holidays as its highly likely your brows will still be flaky.

Not following these instructions may result in your brows healing patchy, uneven or increase risk of infection.

  • DAY 1 - DAY OF TREATMENT
On the day of your appointment, your brows may be slightly tender, red & darker in colour. It is recommended to blot your new brows with a clean, dry tissue every 30 mins for the following few hours to absorb lymph fluid as this will decrease scabbing.

    DAYS 2-10
Your brows will appear darker and begin to get dry, flaky & itchy.
You will be cleansing your new brows and applying an aftercare ointment morning and night for 10-14 days following your treatment.
Expect that it may take you a few days to get used to your brows.

It can take up to 4 weeks following your treatment for your colour to settle into the skin.
Mature clients can take slightly longer to heal due to the cell regeneration process slowing down as we age. This may mean we have to push your touch up out slightly.

  • Brow tattooing will fade and metabolise over time and will need to be touched up anywhere from every 12-24 months.

The frequency of the touch up will depend on clients skin type, lifestyle, technique chosen and pigment used.
